Models of Khadin Improvement in the Western Rajasthan based on Assessment of the Knowledge Levels of the Farmers

Background: The khadin was originally developed a few hundred years ago by the Paliwal Brahmins in Jaisalmer. This system is similar to some irrigation methods used Middle East and Negev desert. based on principle of harvesting rainwater farmland subsequent use this water-saturated land for crop production. Methods: Three villages i.e. Rupsi Jaisalmer, Mandawa Bhaniyana Utal Fathehgarh tehsils have been selected data collection production systems. Among these 20 farmers has from each village having faming system. Thus total 60 farming collected information through interview filled schedules. Scio-economic schedule all three villages. Result: Five models suggested researchers. In five systems medium level knowledge about crop, vegetable, fruits livestock adopting productivity age old khadins can be increased significantly.
